Whatì

A drone photography image of the clear blue waters of Lac La Martre and the Tłı̨chǫ community of Whatì. Dirt roads connect houses and community buildings in this small town with a population around 500. The colorful buildings dot the town with no particular layout.

On the point at Whatì, there used to be a large tree that was used as a visual landmark to help navigate people even in storms. It was there on the point until the 1950s.

The point around the end of Whatì is also portaged. Another sacred secret that is kept with the Tłı̨chǫ.
